Welcome – Karen Bateman, CSW

Karen went to Weber State University for her education she received two degrees. A BS in Communication with an emphasis in interpersonal and family communication and a BS in Social Work. She then decided to continue her education by receiving three master’s degrees. A Master of Professional Communication, Masters of Education in family Life Education, and a Masters of Social Work. She is very educated and finds happiness in expanding her mind to the fullest. Karen has experience working with grieving children and teens who have experienced loss by the death of someone they love or divorce. She also has extensive experience in working with teens in the high school levels who were dealing with various relationship, homeless, and family problems. Karen will also work with families and has volunteered as a mediator in the Ogden 2nd district court. She enjoys working with children, teens, young adults, couples, singles, and parents. Karen is very interested in people’s stories and helping them by listening with empathy and understanding. She tries to emphasize their strengths and focus on how they can improve their own lives by suggesting ways they can increase their awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, while believing that listening and showing interest in the person is the first step in the therapeutic process. She gets satisfaction when they become self-aware and can break through thought processes that have kept them from living a happier life.

Welcome – Angie Dean, LCSW

Angie is a LCSW who attended Utah Valley University and received her Bachelors of Social Work with a minor in advance substance use counseling. She then continued her education by pursuing her masters of Social work at the university of Utah. With her role as a crisis worker she has worked with all different types of diagnosis including depression, anxiety, serious and persistent mental health including schizophrenia, delusional disorders, and Bipolar Disorders. She also has experience working with individuals experiencing personality disorders. However what Angie finds most fulfilling is when she can help individuals and families align their goals and perspectives. She derives great satisfaction in helping individuals struggling with addiction move into actionable steps to recovery. Angie enjoys grief counseling in all its forms. To help her clients she employs humor with sensitivity to help engage and address pivotal issues, making the therapeutic process enjoyable and effective. She believes in candid conversations that recognize the clients strengths all while address their areas of growth. Angie believes that individuals have intrinsic values and will help them learn how to optimize their own skill set to build a healthy recovery. She tries to meet clients where they are at, by building trust and skill sets so the client can see progress as soon as possible.

Welcome – Charelle Hagen, CSW

Charelle started her education at Utah Valley University by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Family Science. She than decided to continue her education by getting her Master of Social Work. Charelle has experience working with various relationship dynamics, including divorce and blended families. She is also skilled in supporting individuals in managing anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, adolescent challenges, trauma, chronic illness, and the unique challenges of caring for aging parents. Charelle especially enjoys working with adolescents and adults, whether individually, with couples, or within families. Her biggest commitment is to helping individuals build on their strengths and overcome challenges so they can thrive in all areas of life. She prioritizes validating their experiences, challenging thought distortions, and teaching new ways to respond to situations.

Welcome – Beth Adair, LCSW

Beth attended University of Utah for her Bachelors of Social Work. She then decided to pursue her education further by attending the Masters of Social work program at the University of Utah. After obtaining her degree, Beth chose to get certified in Mind and Body Bridging, EMDR trained, and take on extensive training in DBT. Beth has experience in substance use, attachment and identity issues relating to adoption, family communication individuals on depression, anxiety, life transitions, and job burnout or overwhelm. She enjoys working with families and individuals ranging from pre-teen to adult. Beth also enjoys providing a space where clients can find validation for their experiences while also working to find their own strengths. She empowers clients to learn new skills they can use on their own, allowing them to confidently take charge of their lives while also supporting them as they incorporate those skills.

Welcome – Denny Bird, MSW, CSW

Denny began is professional journey spending 22 years in law enforcement, including 12 years dedicated to detective work, 10 years as a SWAT Negotiator, 9 years as a School Resource Officer, and 4 years as a Sergeant/Supervisor. He then decided to pursue his education by graduating from BYU Idaho, with his Bachelors degree in Marriage and Family Studies. Denny continued on to pursue his education at USU by obtaining his Masters of Social Work. After school Denny decided to get an additional certificate in mind-body bridging, and became proficient in Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Therapy. He takes a trauma-informed approach with each of these therapeutic modalities. Denny enjoys working with individuals who are seeking healing and hope and are striving to achieve their therapeutic goals.

Welcome – Kathryn Chapman, CMHC

Kathryn graduated summa Cum Laude from Utah Valley University with a bachelor’s in social science and American studies. She then decided to further her education by attending Adams State University for her Masters in Clinical Mental Health. In addition, she went on to obtained her CMHC license as well as level 2 of the Gottman Training and a multicultural distinction award from UVU. As a licensed CMHC most of her experience has been working with clients who struggle with ADHD, relational issues, depression, and anxiety. She also has extensive experience in academics and career counseling and has training in helping clients who struggle with religious crises as well. Kathryn loves working with families, individuals, and couples. She loves helping parents improve their relationships with each other and with their children, as well as helping students to succeed in school and their careers.
